Hi everyone! Welcome to my first post as an Expert Contributor. I’ll be talking about a recent invitation suite I created for a glamorous wedding abroad and sharing the super styled photo shoot which followed. Having married abroad myself, it’s something I love designing for and always get excited about the fabulous destinations my clients choose!

My clients were looking for something to send to their guests which was different to the usual Passport styled invitation you might expect for a destination wedding. Their theme was vintage with a hint of glamour, so I took inspiration from Old Hollywood, looking back to the days of super stars like Grace Kelly and Liz Taylor and the provenance of Pan Am, as well as the decadence of the Art Deco period.

I adore old suitcases, stamps and post cards which symbolise vintage travel. There are so many ways you can incorporate this theme into your wedding, from props to full receptions.

I love this table set up with the airplane in the background! But for more understated influences, these would make a perfect dessert table and sweetheart table:

I decided to design a booklet style invitation, in keeping with travel pass books but a smaller, more delicate version with lots of hints to bygone eras. The invitation was used on an amazing ‘Vintage Travel’ themed photo shoot taken by David Wickham Photography and Modern Vintage Weddings:

If you’re getting married abroad, please share your story and if you’re not, I hope you’ve enjoyed the vintage styling!
