Fashion: Summer Staple White Dresses

Everyone has a little all-white outfit tucked away in the back of their wardrobes, ready to pull out the moment the sun comes out. Whether it’s a white shirt to wear to work, a white dress to show off your holiday tan or a white short suit, we all have our favourites.

Mine has to be the little white dress. Now I’m incredibly pasty but I don’t let this hold me back. Oh no. As soon as the sun shines, that’s it. My little white dress is dusted off and worn once again.

This summer, white dresses fall into three main styles, minis, cut out and embroidered. All three trends were big features on the catwalks and can now be welcomed into your wardrobe.

The Mini

There’s nothing I love more than a mini dress. For me, this is what summer is all about. A white mini looks so chic and fresh and perfect in the sun. Keep your accessories simple and pair with some flat metallic sandals.

The Cut Out

I love a good cut out. I think sometimes they can look a bit scary, having that amount of skin on display, but a cut out doesn’t have to show off vast amounts of skin if you don’t want to. This middle dress from Warehouse has subtle cut outs at the top and bottom which show a hint of skin.

The Embroidered

This is the softest and most feminine of the white dresses. It’s perfect for summer with the delicate detailing and boho feel. The three dresses I’ve picked all accentuate the waist with the pretty embroidery, be it flowers or lace, drawing the eyes down to the narrowest part.
